Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using any Evidite service, including SciPubAudit.org, CitateScreen.com, and any associated APIs or downloadable tools (collectively, the "Services"). By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Description of Services

Evidite provides deterministic citation verification tools that compare bibliographic data in submitted documents against a canonical database of 800M+ source components. The Services do not use AI to generate or modify any citation content. Results are provided for informational purposes and are not legal, editorial, or professional advice.

2. Accounts and Credits

• You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
• New accounts receive 10 free verification credits upon registration. One credit is consumed per document processed.
• Additional credits may be purchased via Stripe. All purchases are final and non-refundable except as required by applicable law.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Submit documents you do not have the right to share;
• Attempt to reverse-engineer or extract data from the Evidite Stacks database;
• Use the Services for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable regulation;
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute Services or output without written permission from Evidite.

4. Intellectual Property

The Services, including all software, algorithms, and database infrastructure, are protected by copyright and three pending U.S. patent applications. You retain ownership of documents you submit. You grant Evidite a limited license to process submitted documents solely to provide the Services.

That processing license ends when the source file is deleted after the audit. Derived reports remain available only during the short download window described in the Privacy Policy. Citation-level research use occurs only when you separately opt in through the data settings.

5. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

6. Disclaimers

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. EVIDITE DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR THAT VERIFICATION RESULTS ARE COMPLETE OR ACCURATE IN ALL CASES. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, EVIDITE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. EVIDITE'S TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICES IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

8. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be resolved by binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted in New York, New York. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

9. Changes to These Terms

Evidite reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
